At 5th Port Dollymount Sea Scouts, we use Spond as our primary communication platform for arranging meetings, sharing event details, and sending important updates. It's a free and easy-to-use app designed specifically for groups like ours, ensuring you're always in the loop.
Spond helps us streamline communication and organization, making it simpler for leaders to share information and for parents to stay informed and manage their child's participation. It allows us to:
Organize Meetings & Events: Quickly send out invitations for weekly meetings, special events, camps, and activities.
Manage Attendance: Parents can easily mark their child as attending or not attending, giving leaders an accurate headcount.
Share Important Communications: Send out messages, announcements, and documents directly to relevant group members.
Create Polls & Surveys: Gather feedback on activity ideas or preferences.
Maintain Privacy: All communications are kept within the Spond platform, separate from personal social media or messaging apps.
Spond functions like a private social network for our scout group. When your child joins 5th Port, their Section Leader will invite you to the relevant Spond group(s).

Receive an Invitation: You'll get an invitation via email or SMS to join your child's group on Spond.
Download the App (Recommended!): The best way to use Spond is by downloading the free app on your smartphone (available for both iOS and Android). This gives you instant notifications and easy access.
Accept Invitations: For each meeting or event, you'll receive an invitation. Simply tap to accept or decline, and add any comments if needed (e.g., allergies, late arrival).
Stay Updated: Check the Spond app regularly for messages from leaders, event updates, and program changes. You'll receive push notifications for new information.
