Scouting is a uniformed organisation and all sections in the Group wear the Scouting Ireland Sea Scout uniform as 5th Port Dollymount uniform. The uniform provides an identity for the scouts and gives them a real sense of belonging to the group. As all sections wear the same uniform there is no need for change other than some badges as they move through the group.
Parents should desist from purchasing a uniform until indicated to do so by the leaders of the section. It takes a while for new members to settle in and decide if scouting is for them. Section Leaders will advise when appropriate to purchase.
The standard 5th Port Dollymount uniform is (most items available at www.scoutshop.ie):
Dark Navy Wool Jumper (beavers can wear the non wool cub jumper available here)
Dark Navy Trousers (can be generic trousers e.g Decathalon or Mountain Warehouse, Regatta are suitable)
Dark shoes and socks
Badges (Available at www.scoutshop.ie)
Sea Scout Membership Badge (Generally supplied with the Beaver Jumper)
Sea Scout Chest Flash (Not needed for Beavers)
Scouting Ireland Badge (Not needed for Beavers)
Badges (provided by section leaders)
Red T-shirts, Hoodies and other branded apparell maybe required for the older sections - section leaders will advise of these requirements when appropriate.
Right Sleeve - Adventure Skills Badges (e.g. Camping Level 1) and Watch Flashes (e.g. Sixer, Seconder etc)
Left Sleeve from the top
Group Name Badge (i.e. 5th Port Dollymount)
County Badge (i.e. Reachra Badge)
Level Badge (e.g. Beaver, Cub etc)
As part of our belief in sustainability, we encourage and promote the swapping of uniforms as scouts grow out of their sizes. Your section leader will advise you about this.
